John McCain, A Counterfeit Hero

by vanquishbb @ 2008-06-24 - 19:07:36

WASHINGTON - The search for John McCain's running mate is such a mystery that few people even know who's in charge.

Big deal! Only Republican sociopaths, right-wing Fundamentalist Christians and Texas child molesters in Mineola give a damn who, John Songbird McCain, picks. He should be in Leavenworth for snitching on two of his POW buddies who were planning an escape. One of them was killed and the other put on brackish water and rice cakes for a month. I'm a Vietnam veteran and I'd vote for Ho Chi Minh before I would the warmongering SOB.

I'm upset because I didn't believe the crap that's being said about McCain who I supported in 2004, then I started checking with POWs who were in the Hoa Lo prison with McCain. Damn, it was worse than the anti-McCain people were saying. This guy is as worthless as a $3 bill.

Hi, Your comment on McCain is interesting. Would you elaborate on the part "worthless as a $3 bill" please.
I am on the opposite side of Mr. McCain.

The statement, "This guy is as worthless as a $3 bill." is my personal opinion of McCain having had personal conversations with him. Plus there are 7 other reasons that are important to me.
2. The fact he not only accepts the "Hero" label, he does his best to perpetuate it knowing he got a fellow POW killed and another damn near killed.
3. He admits he knows nothing about the economy.
4. He has no problem with the troops being in Iraq for 100 years.
5. He has voted against the troops since 2005, when he has bothered to vote.
6. I was shot down twice in Vietnam and thanks to our guys I never came close to being captured, but I was scared to death. So, I cannot truthfully blame McCain for talking to keep from being tortured, but to hear him tell it, torture is okay to get information.
7. Neither McCain or I could be heroes no matter what, we flew into a country that was not attacking the U.S. and murdered people. Today, Americans are being treated better in Hanoi, Vietnam than they are in many U.S. cities.
8. I wonder where morons who believe that my party, the Republican Party, is best at protecting us from terrorists get their information. I thought George W. Bush was the president when we were attacked on 9/11. I thought it was the Bush family's friend, Osama bin Laden, who masterminded the attack. I thought it was the Bush family who flew the bin Laden family out of the U.S. that very day. I thought it was George W. Bush who said, "I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." - G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

Initially I was apathetic about McCain but having expended some brain power on the issue, it strikes me how contradictory he is - this is a guy who was part of an unpopular and unnecessary war, who was captured and tortured and kept prisoner for five years, but he's all in favour of Iraq, torture and Guantanamo Bay... Can't get my head round it, but I suppose he's entitled to come to his own opinions.

I also find highly suspicious how they wheel out his former Vietnamese jailer to say how he'd vote McCain because he's such a great guy. Leads me to wonder what exactly they did in his cell for all that time.

One of the hardest things to do, at least for me, is to keep in mind that politics is big business, a way of life, and very addictive. I suspect that most of us tend to forget this and end up very confused and angry.

I have an extremely wealthy friend who has never, to my knowledge, said a hurtful word about a politician or preacher. He just smiles and says, "Bob, follow the money. You do nothing for your health, reputation or bank account knocking politicians and preachers. It's not about God or country, it's about "money" for some, "power" for other, and "pride' for those who do not feel themselves worthy of the first two."

People get their kicks in all kinds of ways... Given that I don't vote and don't possess wealth or power, I'll stick to pride. They can have their money and power, just as long as I can go all Hunter S. Thompson on them occasionally.

A fellow did a review of one of my books..."If Miller down two beers, smoked a little dope, he'd be another Hunter S. Thompson."

I didn't even know who he was talking about.

One thing I'd never accuse you of is copying somebody else's style... still, Mr Thompson is/was a bit of a hero of mine.

Funny thing, Thompson and I were living in Las Vegas at the same time, but I never heard his name mentioned, but then I hung out with gansters and cops. I knew why people wrote books, but I didn't have a clue why people read them.
