There can be no doubt that Pervez Musharraf's nearly nine years in power are nearing a close. As the deeply unpopular president's opponents have steadily closed in, some of his key allies have abandoned his side. The powerful army he led for nine years shows no sign of intervening. And even the once guaranteed voice of support from Washington appears to have fallen silent, while the chorus calling for his exit continues to grow louder.
In the coming weeks, the CIA's newest puppet, Mikheil Saakashvili, just might find that his calls to Washington are not getting through. Then, of course, it's possible that the bad boys in Russia will assassinate, Saakashvili. One can only hope.

Musharraf has been a sly one. He reminds me of a guy walking backwards out of a room while pretending to be coming in.
He has always checked in with his mates in Beijing whenever he has been about to make a "staunch ally of the US" speech.
